One of the risks of having your home in a place prone to inclement
weather is the possibility of having to deal with water damage. That being the
case, it is only right that you familiarize yourself with the various signs of
water damage.
Walls and Ceilings
One of the most common signs of water damage along your walls and
ceilings is the presence of water stains and bulging paint. In some cases,
water puddles could be a sign that your ceiling might have already sustained
some water damage. Keep in mind that stains could be a sign that the leak could
be coming from a busted pipe within your walls.
Floors
Warping or buckling on your floor can be a sign that you have a busted
pipe somewhere beneath it. If you have a carpet on, you might start noticing a
musty smell or damp parts in your carpet. This can be quite serious as you
might also be already dealing with mold growth.
Basement and Attics
Since people do not spend their time that much in basements and attics,
it is often too late before they realize that there is already water damage. In
most cases, the initial sign that something is wrong is the presence of musty
odor when you open the door. Warped floorboards and ceilings are also signs
that you have a busted pipe somewhere.
